Critical maintenance starting Monday 15th January 2018 on SSD VPS and cloud products

Scheduled – As you may be aware Meltdown & Spectre are two industry-wide security vulnerabilities affecting hardware that have come to light recently.

What is happening?

In order to address these vulnerabilities, we need to undertake critical maintenance on our platform, starting on Monday 15th January. This will ensure your services remain stable and secure.

To apply the required patch, we will need to reboot Cloud and VPS servers. This will mean that you will experience some downtime, however, we can assure you that this will be kept to an absolute minimum. The downtime duration will be very similar to a standard reboot and will depend on the amount of data on your VM (Virtual Machine). To estimate the length of time your server usually takes to reboot, you could try restarting it ahead of the maintenance.

What do I need to do?

To ensure there is no data loss or corruption please ensure you save your settings/configuration (i.e. firewall/system/other) before Monday 15th January, this can be done in the usual way.

Whilst this infrastructure update addresses the disclosed vulnerability at the hypervisor level, we also suggest you apply the security patch on your own VM (Virtual Machine). You can find all the information you need to do this here –
